THE EXPERIENCE
Some mountains are about reaching the summit. Kilimanjaro is about everything you experience on the way there.
Over ten days in Tanzania, we'll journey from Arusha to the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro before spending eight days on the Lemosho Route, gradually making our way towards Uhuru Peak at 5,895m — the highest point in Africa.
Along the way, the world around us will constantly change. We'll begin amongst the rainforest of the lower mountain, cross the open landscapes of the Shira Plateau and move through increasingly remote alpine terrain as we climb higher.
We'll sleep beneath the mountain, share camp with our Tanzanian mountain team and experience the rhythm of expedition life as everyday routines are replaced by something much simpler:
Walk. Eat. Rest. Recover. Repeat.
Then comes summit day.
We'll leave Barafu Camp in darkness and climb through the night towards the crater rim, hopefully watching the sun rise across the mountain before taking those final steps towards Uhuru Peak.
It's challenging. It's spectacular. And reaching the summit is only one part of what makes Kilimanjaro such an extraordinary adventure.
