Epic First Summit on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon): Congratulations to Our Brilliant March Group!
We kicked off our 2026 season in style with our very first guided trip — a wonderful hike up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) via the picturesque Pyg Track.
We set off from Pen y Pass car park in nice spring conditions, with just a little breeze to keep things interesting. By the time we reached the summit, the mountain had other ideas: we were greeted with proper wintery conditions, light snow showers, and a biting wind chill of around -11°C.
Despite the challenging weather at the top — temperatures hovering between -1°C and +1°C, combined with west-northwesterly winds of 35-45 mph and gusts over 50 mph — the whole group handled it brilliantly. The full round trip via the Pyg Track up and the Llanberis Path down took us just over 6 hours, and everyone returned safely with big smiles (and a well-earned celebratory drink afterwards!).
What made the day truly special was the incredible team spirit and engagement from start to finish. The positive energy, laughter, and mutual encouragement never wavered — even when the wind was howling on the exposed ridge. Several members of the group were ticking off their very first mountain, which made the achievement even more memorable.
A huge personal congratulations from me to Louise, Rachel, Jodie, Jack, and Shannen — you were an absolute pleasure to guide, and you smashed your summits!
And a special shout-out to young Henry, who at just 10 years old tackled a proper wintery Snowdon as his first ever mountain. Incredible effort, Henry — you’re a legend!
We can’t forget the legendary Welsh mountain cows we spotted along the way… still our favourite little inside joke of the day! 🐮
A massive thank you to our brilliant guiding team — Neve and Joe — for their expert skills, constant safety focus, and for helping create such a supportive atmosphere up on the mountain.
This trip was the perfect reminder of why we do what we do. Seeing people push their limits, overcome challenging conditions, and create lasting memories in the hills is what Eternal Adventures is all about.
We’re now fully into a busy spring season and already looking forward to many more adventures ahead. Whether it’s your first mountain or your next big challenge, we can’t wait to welcome you onto the hills with us soon.
If you were part of this group (or any of our trips), we’d love to hear from you — drop us a message or tag us in your photos!
