Give your child a proper outdoor adventure this October half term.

Over three action-packed days, young adventurers will build real outdoor skills, confidence and teamwork through hands-on learning in some of Bristol’s best outdoor spaces.

Programme Overview

Day 1 – Team Fundamentals Monday 26th October | Snuff Mills

Teamwork, communication, leadership and basic rope work.

Day 2 – Exploration Skills Tuesday 27th October | Snuff Mills

Map reading, navigation, compass skills, safety awareness and terrain skills.

Day 3 – Expedition Day Wednesday 28th October | Beacon Batch

Putting everything into practice on a full expedition-style day — route finding, decision-making, pacing and a real sense of adventure.

Climb to the highest peak in England and experience the true beauty of the Lake District with stunning views of Wastwater lake. This steep but beautiful backdrop will see you walk up through the valley under the watchful eye of Scafell before finding the switchbacks that take you up to the 978 m summit of Scafell Pike.

The summit trig and platform is a wonderful place to visit, with incredible 360° views on a clear day stretching across the Lake District fells, the Irish Sea, and beyond. This is the classic Wasdale Head route — one of the most rewarding and iconic ways to stand on top of England.

Scafell Pike + Catbells

This is a lovely balanced weekend in the Lake District, combining a big mountain day with a more relaxed and scenic one.

On the Saturday, you’ll take on Scafell Pike from Wasdale — a proper challenge with fantastic views over Wastwater. Then on the Sunday, you’ll enjoy Catbells, a classic and popular Wainwright with beautiful views over Derwentwater. It’s a shorter and more gentle day, perfect after a big effort the day before.

It’s a well-balanced combination that gives you both the satisfaction of reaching England’s highest point and a lovely, rewarding walk with classic Lakeland scenery. Ideal if you want contrast rather than two hard days in a row.

Saturday 3rd October - Sunday 4th October 2026

Tackle one of the toughest 24-hour challenges in the UK as you summit all 15 of the highest peaks in Wales in a single epic push through Eryri National Park.

You’ll traverse three legendary mountain massifs in one continuous adventure:

• Snowdon Massif – Crib Goch, Garnedd Ugain, Snowdon

• Glyderau – Elidir Fawr, Y Garn, Glyder Fawr, Glyder Fach, Tryfan

• Carneddau – Pen yr Ole Wen, Carnedd Dafydd, Yr Elen, Carnedd Llewelyn, Foel Grach, Garnedd Gwenllian, Foel-fras
