    Fitness level: You should be comfortable walking 10 miles with 1,345 m of ascent. Previous hill-walking experience is helpful but not essential.

  • We meet at the Ben Nevis Inn and follow the classic Tourist Track. We’ll walk the lower slopes into the dawn light, pass the Quarter Way Bridge, reach the half-way plateau with views of Lochan Meall an t-suidhe, then tackle the zig-zags up the south-west side to the summit plateau. We’ll navigate the line of 17–20 cairns to the trig point and old observatory before descending the same route.

  • October weather on Ben Nevis can be changeable — it may be mild in the glen but cold, windy or wet on the summit. Early starts mean you could experience beautiful dawn light, but layers are essential. Full weather and kit guidance is provided in your Welcome Pack after booking.
