Walkers with a good level of fitness who enjoy steep terrain and a proper mountain challenge
Those wanting to tick off England’s highest peak via the classic Wasdale route
Adventurers looking for a rewarding and scenic Lake District mountain day
Fitness level: Good level of fitness required. The route is steep with sustained ascent, so you should be comfortable walking 9 km with 910 m of elevation gain.

We meet at Lakehead Car Park and follow the classic Wasdale Head route up through the valley. The path climbs steadily with switchbacks leading to the summit plateau of Scafell Pike. After enjoying the views we descend the same route back to the car park.
